Welcome

This is a photo story of an abandoned Portuguese Waterdog in Utah, who was rescued, and found a loving home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Written for the enjoyment of young people, the story has a type style that is familiar and includes multiple pictures taken from Brigham's arrival through his later years.

When he arrived he had no name, he had no history to report, so he was named "Brigham Young Waterdog" just called "Brigham" for short. He was taken to obedience school but obviously, he had been there before. So he would sit down after twenty minutes of drills, because he was bored.

We realized that he had been trained to walk on a leash, but was slightly muddled. To the walkers dismay, we found that when confronted, he leapt over mud puddles. We soon found out more about Brigham when we went to the lake. He was a waterdog by breed, but immersing by Brigham was a big mistake. Never a swimmer, but always a sport, in your lap in an inner tube he would float.

About Seth R. Schneible Sr.

Seth R. Schneible Sr.  Octogenarian, former merchant seaman and retired naval office, compiled almost 14 years of photographs when preparing the photo story. Drafted originally as a remembrance for his younger grandchildren, ages 7 and 11, the project grew and it was shown to neighbors and friends who encouraged publication. While it will never appear on the NY Times best seller list, it is hoped that copies will find a home with those that have fond memories of their relationship with their departed pets.

"One of my hobbies," says Seth, "that many of my friends find enjoyable, is the reproduction of photos on note cards. My wife meets on Tuesdays with her contemporaries, known as the "Hookers". (They hook rugs.) They enjoy sending cards with their latest ,in full color, on the front panel. There are many numbers of items that can be reproduced. For old sailors, their favorite ship, for racers their new sailboat and for pet owners, their favorite pet photos."
